Emotions - Books for Kids
Did you grow up talking about and having an understanding of your emotions ?
Growing up in the 80’s it certainly wasn’t something that was really spoken about in my childhood.
I didn’t know how to recognise what I was feeling in my body. And I certainly didn’t know how to express my emotions.
When I became interested in the mind body connection there was a whole load of basic emotional concepts that I needed to learn.
Rather than finding help in adult academic texts, I found the best and easiest way to grow my emotional awareness was from the simplicity of children’s story books.
Free of uncomplicated vocabulary, they’re super relatable and easy to understand for all ages.
And reading children’s books was a great opportunity to sit down with my three boys, connect with each other and learn the language of emotions together.
I’ve found some absolute gems which I’d love to share with you.
It certainly helps when the stories talk about things that your children love – not surprisingly the mop surfing series of books is a favourite in our household.
